Seven Things That Motivate Employees More Than Money

1. Stay Big-hearted with Praise

People deliberately expect from employers and it’s one of the easiest things to give.  Praise every improvement that you see your team members make. Once you’re comfortable delivering praise one-on-one to an employee, try praising them in front of others.

2. Allow people think for new ideas

People do not like new ideas or plans which are just instructed without any discussions with them. Instead of telling to people, better you can ask people to come up with ideas.

3. Never criticize others

No one wants to hear that they did something wrong.  Try an indirect approach to get people to improve, let them learn from their mistakes.

4. Give leadership responsibility to everyone

Highlight your top performers’ strengths and let them know that because of their excellence, you want them to be the example for others.


5. Weekly once lunch with Top performer

Surprise them. Don’t make an announcement that you are going to invite for a lunch.  It’s an easy way to remind them that you notice and appreciate their work.

6. Give company parties

You can provide company outing, company lunch and parties to encourage people and let them feel happy & comfortable working with you.  Don’t just wait until the holidays to do a company activity; organize events throughout the year to remind your staff is important for you.

7. Share success and failure

When your company does well, celebrate. This is the best time to let everyone know that you’re thankful for their hard work and success.  If there are disappointments, share those too. Always stay honest and transparent, share where the company stands and the company’s expectation from employees.

What is ‘Performance Suicide’?


As a Leader or Manager, if you didn't fully understand the impact on the poor performers in your team then this leads to ‘Performance Suicide.’  Each leader should know how to handle such a difficult people in their team.  Few steps given below help to avoid performance suicide:




1. Understand the impact you want to make.
 
2. Be a role model for your team.


3. Analyze each individual’s performance level.


4. Don’t avoid/separate poor performance.


5. Understand his/her problems and try to help them to improve.


6. Communicate well and be kind.


7. Conduct regular face to face meetings/discussions.


8. Recognize and appreciate the right performance.
