Nokku Varmam - A Powerful Martial Art:

Nokku Varmam - We heard this word somewhere but not sure rite?  Yes, it is a ‘Martial Art with Power of Eyes’.  Few months ago, Tamil film named ‘7 am Arivu’ was released.  It is a wonderful movie expressed hidden truth about Bodidharman and his talents on Medicine, Self defense (Kung fu fight), Martial Arts etc.   In that film anti-hero China man (Dong Lee), he controlled opponents with his eye power and made others to do things according to his wish.  While seeing this scene in '7am Arivu' movie people cannot accept and started commenting on it.  I too thought it is not possible and added as Cine Masala only for commercial purpose (money motive).

                                                                   'Bodidharma'

                                                            '7 am Arivu Movie'

But after watching ‘Nampinal Nambungal’ last week episode in ZeeTamizh TV at 10pm.  I was amazed, scene which I felt not possible in movie is shown as live. performance . Yes, now I too agree we can control other person with our eye power.  It is one type of martial art used in crucial situations, if practiced well we can also do it perfectly.

                                                                 'Kalaripayattu'

Few good Asaans are still alive they are teaching people on martial arts.  But Nokku Varmam is not taught to all and also it is not that much easily to learn.  The basic requirement for learning varmam art is 1) Should be discipline, 2) Patient and c) hard practices.

NB: Above video captured from Zee Tamizh TV using mobile camera.  So Its clarity may be low.

Asaan will not teach this art immediately to all practitioners because people may misuse this art and it will create severe problems to public.  After closely monitoring practitioner's behavior they will decide whether to teach them or not. Asaan also stated that practitioners should intake few herb juices which support to achieve ‘Nokku Varmam’.

Asaan Mr. Rajendran showed live 'Nokku Varmam' performance over 4 people in front of  Zee Tamizh production unit(one among them from Zee Tamizh TV staff came for interviewing the show).  Asaan made four persons fell down by his Nokku Varmam without touching them from long distance.  It was unbelievable but true. After this Asaan reached the spot gave first aid to deceased people and rescue them.  He stated that we have 10 sensitive points in our body, if we hit on those spots it may lead opponent to death.

Research says, origin of this traditional martial art from Tamil Nadu which was first introduced and taught by Sidthar Agastheeyar Mamuni.  It was practiced well by people who lived centuries ago when we were under king's rule.  People living in Kerala may think origin of Varma Kalai is from their place but that is not true.  Saddest news is Varmam Kalai's origin is from Tamil Nadu but now it is not familiar here but the same is  very popular in Kerala and China.  Nowadays its fame is getting lost because of technologies available in modern world and youngsters not showing interest towards it. We are losing our ancient arts one by one.  Atleast one person from a family should learn this art and teach this to future generation otherwise soon this art will get destructed.  Mr. Rajendran says every father should encourage their son to learn our ancient martial art.

Special thanks to Zee Tamizh Television for an informative show.

The Famous "Kolaveri Virus" - My Views

Now It is “Why this Kolaveri di” viral fever engulfed all over the world.  So I too like to share my views about this song.

First of all, I would like to congratulate Movie “3” team for marking one of the hit songs crossed 36,684,137 viewers in YOU TUBE.  In Tamil (Kollywood) film industry, we have got many famous music directors and play back singers but I personally feel proud, one of our Tamil actor breaks all the records.  The most highlighted part is our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, person who is not interested in other entertainment activates (only in appearance I guess) called actor Dhanush and congrats him.  All over the world wishes and credits flows to Dhanush, Ishwarya and their team.

Congrats once again to Kolaveri Team.

We have many songs with wonderful thoughts are still in the row but how this song become this much hit.  It is enigmatic.

Research says this song also hits Nano Generian fans.

Ok, now it is time to write about my view.  I feel there is a business tactics behind this success and popularity.

In 2003, Cadbury's found itself in the eye of a storm, when a few instances of worms in its Dairy Milk bars were reported in Maharashtra.  In less than two weeks, the company launched a PR campaign for the trade.  When this issue happens, everyone talking bad about chocolate and stop buying it.  Its economy came down.  The strong PR team brings Amitabh Bachchan to advertise their product.  In advertisement when Mr.Bachchan shows us eating chocolate in front of screen we forget about the bad incident.  Now many people forget that issue too. After advertisements given by Mr. Bachchan Cadburys reaches its old trade mark and now it is a successful product providing optimum profit.

When this kolaveri song released in internet, Mr. Bachchan was the first person tweeted in his page.  After this many people in India started viewing this song (People Taught: If Mr. Bachchan says its good it, It must be good).  There are some people viewed this song because of Mr. Bachchan's comments.  Hence kolaveri virus spread all over India and crossed borders too.  Now it reached a special place in world’s record.

While seeing this chocolate issue and Kolaveri song issue I felt there is a deal between Mr.Bachchan and Kolaveri Team.  May be who knows only God knows. Also film director Ishwarya daughter of a great Superstar, she know how to market her products.  She used new booming social media effectively for promoting her product.

Now all the audience expectation about movie “3” goes high.  Let us wait and see. .

Kolaveri virus will die after couple of weeks of movie release.

It is my own view, if it hurts die-hard fans of Dhanush I apologize for that.

Thanks

Rewards and Recognition

A leader makes other people feel important and appreciated. The leader excels at creating opportunities to provide rewards, recognition and thanks to his or her staff. A leader creates a work environment in which people feel important and appreciated.

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”

“The difference between a boss and a leader: a boss says, 'Go!' -a leader says, 'Let's go!'.”

1. Give attention to people using common courtesy.
Say good morning. Ask people how their weekend turned out. Discuss some general current affair issues before starting a team meeting.  Practicing simple courtesy is a powerful relationship-building tool.

2. Listen to what your coworkers, peers and staff members have to say.
Give full attention for person who seeks your attention.  If you can’t pay full attention and listen actively, set a time with the person to meet when you can.  It makes people feel special when you listen to them without distraction.

3. Use powerful, positive language in your interaction with others.
Motivate and encourage the team member at every stage.  Say "please" and "thank you" and "you're doing a good job."  Say, “We couldn’t have accomplished the goal without you.” “Your contribution saved the customer for the company.” Powerful, positive recognition makes people feel important. Powerful, positive recognition encourages your employees to contribute more of the same work in the future.

4. Put praise in writing.
Mark a "thank you" note to the employee, with a copy to her file, magnifies the impact of the recognition.

5. Give importance to your commitments with team members.

Professional Ethics for Work Place

A self-disciplined life makes the job of good workplace ethics.  It helps the person to reach success in life as well as career.  Professional Ethics makes person perfect.

To help you to build Ethics in the workplace, please try to follow ten tips:

1.   Just do it.
Make a personal commitment to develop and bullet-proof your personal ethical code of conduct.  You must really want it.  As long as you require outside intervention to stay ethical, you won't develop self-discipline.

2.   Learn the rules.
Clarify what you will and will not do.  Educate yourself so you won't make ignorant mistakes.  Rules, policies, regulations, and standard operating procedures can be overwhelming.

3.   Be accountable.
Accept responsibility for your behavior.  Don't blame others for your unfortunate actions and decisions.  The extent of your personal damage control should be, "I'm sorry.  I take full responsibility for my actions and I will make it right."  That is what most people want to hear.  Taking responsibility shows honesty of character, which is a rare and valuable commodity in the workplace.

4.   Practice.
Self-discipline is something you can teach yourself.  No matter how carefully you plan to live an honest, disciplined life, you won't get out of the starting gate without actually doing something.

5.   Eliminate harmful habits.
If you tend to stretch the truth, cut it out! If you use company equipment, supplies, or facilities for personal use, stop it!  If you interpret company policies to meet your needs, don't do it anymore.  We all have some angle, a scam, or semi-ethical behavior that pushes the envelope.  Whatever they may be, put an end to the harmful habits immediately.

6.   Activities
Do activities that enhance your self-discipline like exercising, sports, or practicing a musical instrument.  The fact is, attaining self-discipline in one area of life will translate to other areas of life as well.

7.   Don't give up.
Moral and ethical values are not skin deep.  You simply can't walk away from them when times get tough.  Many things in life are negotiable, but your principles are not.

The personal rewards of building strong ethical character are well worth the journey.  The benefits go far beyond your business at work and will transcend to all areas of life.
